Sharia ‘courts’ operating in Britain, says report

A study suggests that scores of unofficial tribunals, many operating in UK mosques, regularly apply Islamic law to resolve domestic, marital and business disputes

• Mosques are operating as courts of Sharia law in the UK. They are doing this in secret and behind closed doors. Sharia law is not legal in UK, yet it is being handed out by the high and mighty Islamic management, and enforced by the UK state courts. Their actions are not only illegal, but are also a threat to human rights, especially female human rights. The portent this holds for women is bad. I want women to be treated fairly and equally, despite some resentment I feel towards feminism, which I see as nasty as male chauvinism. In Sharia law, women are the sub-species and that will never change under an Islamic judiciary. Sharia law is not UK law, and is not for a secular society. So why is it tolerated? It will erode the British courts to the brink. They must be shut down immediately by the police, or the far right will have all the fuel it needs for the coming elections. • We know that the Sharia law is not legally recognised. But that, apparently, is easily done, and it is women who lose out, because Sharia law belongs to the Dark Ages and has no room for human dignity and equality.
