City drowns in rainy-day blues

Mumbai: Once again, Mumbaikars were left to fend for themselves on Wednesday morning, as the city’s transport system buckled under a night of heavy rainfall. During peak office-going hours, traffic came to a virtual standstill due to floods and heavy water-logging in low-lying stretches such as Hindmata and Parel, where clogged drains did little to help ease the floods. Heavy water-logging — 1.5 to 2ft — was reported at Sane Guruji Marg, Maratha Mandir, Wadala, Shirodkar Marg in Parel, Mumbai Central Railway Station, Dadar Workshop, Ratan Tata Road in Tardeo, and Worli Naka.
